Petra Grimm

Petra Grimm (* 1962 in Munich ) is a German media and communication scientist. She is professor for media research and communication science at the Stuttgart Media University and head of the Institute for Digital Ethics.

Life

Grimm studied modern German literature, communication studies and theater studies at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich and received his doctorate in 1994 on the subject of narrativity and advertising.

Grimm worked from 1991 to 1998 as a lecturer for modern literature and media at the Institute for Education at the University of Kiel. From 1994 to 1998 she was the department head for program supervision and media research at the Independent State Agency for Broadcasting and New Media (ULR) in Kiel.

Grimm has been professor for media research at the Stuttgart Media University since 1998. She has been the ethics officer at the university since 2000. In 2013 she founded the Institute for Digital Ethics together with Tobias Keber and Oliver Zöllner . In 2011 she received the Baden-Württemberg State Teaching Prize. She is a member of the Research Advisory Board of the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) and has been a member of the SWR Broadcasting Council since 2017. From 2012 to 2017 she was a member of the Commission for Youth Media Protection (KJM).

Grimm is the editor of the media ethics series at Franz Steiner Verlag, Stuttgart.
