The Association for History of Prignitz eV is a German, regional history association based in Perleberg .

history

The Association for the History of the Prignitz was founded on September 9, 1999 in Rühstädt by eleven members and had over 100 members at its 10th anniversary. The founding members were Bernhard von Barsewisch , currently 2nd chairman, Carl Michael von Quitzow, Heike and Rainer Neumann, Torsten Foelsch , Friedrich-Christoph and Achaz von Saldern, Werner Blumenthal, Kerstin Beck, Uwe Czubatynski and Clemens Bergstedt .

The main purpose is the scientific research of the Prignitz regional history Ostprignitz-Ruppin. The association could not build on any tradition and had to do extensive pioneering work in this area. The medieval historian Wolfgang Radtke praised the work done in the introduction to his 2016 book Brandenburg in the 19th Century (1815–1914 / 18) . He was one of the historical associations that were founded after German reunification in the 1990s from local historians and nationwide lay archaeologists, mostly under the direction of trained historians, in which association work increasingly possible on a historical basis was realized. From his point of view, they also provide an essential component for the historical, political and social identification of the Brandenburgers .

The Association for the History of Prignitz is a cooperation partner of the State Historical Association for the Mark Brandenburg .

Since 2001 he has published the announcements of the Association for the History of Prignitz .
