At the age of twelve, Petra Klingler won a competition in the lead discipline for the first time . In 2010 she became Swiss champion in the disciplines of bouldering and speed. Because of these successes, she was elected Zurich's young female athlete of the year 2010. On September 18, 2016, Petra Klingler became the first Swiss world champion in the bouldering discipline at the climbing world championship in Paris. In 2019 she reached eighth place in the Combination discipline at the World Championships in Hachioji and thus qualified for the 2020 Olympic Games , which were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic .
