Petra Niemann

Petra Niemann (born August 14, 1978 in Berlin ) is a German sailor. In 2006 she won silver at the World Cup.

Life

Petra Niemann began her career in the Europe dinghy. In 1998 she won her first German championship title. In 1999 she was third at the Kieler Woche , and a year later she was 13th at the 2000 Olympic Games . In 2001 she won the German championship again; In 2002 she was third in the world championship in Canada behind Siren Sundby and Sari Multala . In 2003 she won the German Championship and the Kieler Woche, and came fifth at the World Championship. At the 2004 Olympic Games , Niemann took tenth place.

After the Olympic season, Niemann switched to the laser dinghy. After a third place in 2005, she won the 2006 Kiel Week with the new boat. At the World Championships in Los Angeles, she was second behind the Chinese Xu Lijia . In 2007 she finished third at the World Cup before Cascais.

Petra Niemann starts for the Seglerhaus am Wannsee club under coach Tytus Konarzewski.

Together with other athletes, she dropped the covers for Playboy's 2008 Olympic Special .
