Xu Lijia ( Chinese 徐莉佳 ; born August 30, 1987 in Shanghai ) is a former Chinese sailor .
successes
Xu Lijia, who competes in the Laser Radial boat class , took part in three Olympic Games . In 2008 she finished the regatta in Beijing with 50 points in third place behind Anna Tunnicliffe and Gintarė Volungevičiūtė and thus received the bronze medal. At the 2012 Olympic Games in London , she achieved an even better result when she became Olympic champion with 35 points . Four years later she did not get beyond 18th place in Rio de Janeiro . At the World Championships in Los Angeles in 2006, she won the title and in 2008 in Auckland and 2012 in Boltenhagen won the silver medal. Xu won two more gold medals at the Asian Games . In 2002 she took first place in Busan in the boat class Optimist and in 2006 in Doha in the boat class Laser Radial.
In 2012, the World Sailing Association named Xu World Sailor of the Year .
