Anna Tunnicliffe

Anna Tunnicliffe (born October 17, 1982 in Doncaster , England) is an American sailor .

Tunnicliffe started sailing in the Optimist at the age of 9 . When she was 12, her family moved to Perrysburg , Ohio . It was there that Tunnicliffe started regatta sailing . At the age of 17 she switched to the Laser Radial and subsequently also sailed the Laser (standard rig).

Sporting successes (all in the Laser Radial class) included 3rd place in the women's world championship in 2005, 8th place in the European championship, 4th place in the world championship in 2006 and 1st place in the world rankings in October 2006.

At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, Tunnicliffe won the gold medal in the Laser Radial boat class.
