Marit Bouwmeester (born June 17, 1988 in Warten ) is a Dutch sailor .
successes
Marit Bouwmeester, who starts in the Laser Radial boat class , took part in two Olympic Games . In 2012 she finished second in London with 37 points behind Xu Lijia and in front of Evi Van Acker and thus won the silver medal. In the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro she succeeded with 61 points the Olympic gold medal as she before Annalize Murphy and Anne-Marie Rindom secured the gold medal. At world championships she won the title in Perth in 2011 , in Santander in 2014 , in Medemblik in 2017 and in Melbourne in 2020 , and she was second four times between 2010 and 2019. She also won the title at the European Championships three times.
In 2017 the World Sailing Association named Bouwmeester World Sailor of the Year .
