Petra Rivers

Petra Janina Rivers (born December 11, 1952 ) is a former Australian javelin thrower .

She won gold at the British Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh in 1970 and in Christchurch in 1974 .

In 1980 she was eliminated from qualifying at the Olympic Games in Moscow . A fourth place at the Athletics World Cup in 1981 was followed by the silver medal at the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane. She was twelfth at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and eleventh at the 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh.

She was Australian champion seven times (1970, 1971, 1974, 1981-1984). Her personal best of 69.28 m she set on March 20, 1982 in Brisbane .
