Petra Urban (writer)
Petra Urban (born October 7, 1957 in Dohna ) is a German literary scholar and writer .
Life
Growing up in Düsseldorf , Petra Urban studied German and philosophy at the Heinrich Heine University after graduating from the Goethe-Gymnasium in Düsseldorf . In 1990 she received her doctorate with a thesis on a libretto by Richard Wagner : Liebesdämmerung - A psychoanalytic experiment on Richard Wagner's Tristan and Isolde . From 1986 to 1990 she worked as a freelance editor for the Düsseldorf women's newspaper KOM, MA and wrote literary and theater reviews for the features section of the Westdeutsche Zeitung (WZ).
Petra Urban has lived as a freelance writer in Bingen am Rhein since 1992 . Her publications include novels, short stories and non-fiction books. She leads seminars for “ creative writing ” at the adult education center in Bingen, gives lectures on literary and life-philosophical topics and is a lecturer in literature at the VHS Bingen and at the Academy of the Diocese of Mainz .
The Rhineland-Palatinate Literature Days, which take place every two years, made Bingen the city of literature in 2009. They were organized by Monika K. Böss, Volkmar Döring , Rüdiger Heins , Hans Tönjes Redenius and Petra Urban. From this she developed the idea of an annual reading time in Bingen , which began for the first time in autumn 2011.
