Petrel Island is an island in the Bay of Isles on the north coast of South Georgia . It is located 1.2 km southwest of Prion Island .
The American ornithologist Robert Cushman Murphy mapped them on his trip with the brig Daisy (1912-1913). Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations took from 1929 to 1930, a geodetic survey of the island and named it after the petrels ( English petrel ), the island belongs to their breeding grounds.
