from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Petrus Riga (* around 1140 ; † 1209 ) was a French clergyman, poet and canon at Reims Cathedral . In Latin he wrote the Aurora , an influential verse Bible in the later Middle Ages. In late medieval manuscripts he is often referred to as Petrus de Riga, which incorrectly suggests an origin from the Latvian Riga . He studied in Paris .

In 1965 Beichner gives 248 preserved manuscripts. Since then, more have been found, such as B. Cod.Sal.IX, 30 and Cod.Sal.IX, 62, both of which are in the Heidelberg University Library and are also available digitally.
