The HL Scheid printing company was founded on October 15, 1882 by the printer Heinrich Lambert Scheid in the city of Koblenz on the Middle Rhine , but was not entered in the commercial register until February 18, 1918 .

history

When Heinrich Lambert Scheid bought the printing works, which had been in existence since 1842, with buildings at Mehlgasse 15 and Gemüsegasse 14, from his teacher H. Hildenbrandt, the printed products were still all made by hand. The individual lines were set in lead letters and each printed sheet was placed individually in the hand-operated printing press . In the following years Scheid modernized the company by using the newly developed line setting and casting machines and expanded it by purchasing another house at Gemüsegasse 12. Two sons of his eight children in total: Heinrich August (1884–1964) and Adolf Lambert Scheid also learned the printing trade from their father. Heinrich Lambert Scheid died at Christmas 1917.

Scheid oHG printing company

From 1918 onwards, Adolf Lambert Scheid (later he called himself just Adolf Scheid) and his older brother Heinrich August managed his father's company. Adolf Lambert Scheid's daughter Erika learned the typesetting trade from her father , which she completed with a master craftsman's examination. On March 15, 1920, the brothers founded an oHG which existed until December 31, 1950. From then on, Adolf Scheid was the sole owner of the printing company. On January 1, 1951, Heinrich August left the company and then founded his own company, Heinrich A. Scheid oHG., Printing, paper trade and stamps , in Magazinstrasse 6.

Scheid KG printing company

In the 1970s, the company switched to electronic print production. On January 19, 1973, the company was converted into a limited partnership, with Adolf Scheid as the limited partner and his daughter Erika Hoffecker-Scheid as the general partner. After the death of Adolf Scheid on September 22, 1974, the daughter continued the company. In 1981 the print shop had to move to Karmeliterstraße 2-4 due to urban redevelopment measures. On October 15, 1982 the company celebrated its hundredth birthday. From February 2, 1989, the company was listed under the entry HL Scheid Druckerei, owner Erika Hoffecker-Scheid in the Koblenz commercial register. After that, on April 29, 1997, Alfred Bild from Koblenz took over the business, who continued to operate the printing company under the name HL Scheid printing, successor to Alfred Bild , until December 21, 1999 . The company was then deleted from the commercial register.
