Seehausen rectory

The rectory in Seehausen am Staffelsee in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district in the Bavarian administrative district of Upper Bavaria is essentially a building from 1776, otherwise from the middle of the 19th century. The two-storey half-hipped roof building with a profiled eaves cornice and gable door is a listed building . It was taken over by the municipality of Seehausen on a long lease.

Staffelsee Museum

The Staffelsee Museum, which opened in January 2018, is located on the upper floor of the rectory . The exhibition rooms were created with funding from public funds, including from the LEADER program, and with the support of private sponsors. The multimedia-equipped museum deals with the history and traditions around the Staffelsee . It is supported by the voluntary local history and museum association Seehausen am Staffelsee e. V.

In the history room , the island of Wörth can be seen as a model with its finds since the Bronze Age. The Wessobrunn prayer may have been written down in the writing room of the medieval monastery church . A relief stone from the old church reminds us that the church for the area was on the island until the end of the 18th century.

The glass painting is a dedicated space in memory of the families Seehauser Gege and Noder that were artistically active for over 100 years and whose works even to St. Petersburg were sold.

Another room deals with the importance of the Staffelsee for the region - from its formation to flora and fauna to its use for fishing and its history. The nationally significant Corpus Christi procession on the lake has a religious-historical tradition .

The museum also lives from changing special exhibitions, including about artists working in the region.
