Rectory St. Mauritz (Münster)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The rectory of St. Mauritz is the collegiate curia of the former collegiate monastery St. Mauritz in Münster . The building is located at Sankt-Mauritz-Freiheit 25, directly opposite the St. Mauritz Church .

history

The rectory of St. Mauritz was built in 1758. It was one of several residential buildings in the curia. It is approximately 20.5 m wide and 11.6 m deep.

The baroque architect Johann Conrad Schlaun provided the design . The evidence for this only came to light during a comprehensive renovation in 2014. The original wooden floor from 1758 was exposed under plywood panels. This was laid exactly like the floor in Haus Rüschhaus , which was undoubtedly designed by Schlaun.

After the abolition of the monastery in 1811, the parish of St. Mauritz acquired the building in 1859 as a rectory. The rectory is a listed building.

building

The building has a basement. On the ground floor (mezzanine floor) there are offices of the parish of Sankt Mauritz (parish office, work rooms, including the leading pastor) as well as a large conference room, which was used as a church council room until the renovation. The upper floor is designed as an official residence for the leading pastor of the parish.
