Rectory in Wormbach

The Catholic rectory is a listed building in Wormbach , a district of Schmallenberg in the Hochsauerlandkreis ( North Rhine-Westphalia ). The rectory is located on the southern outskirts. Directly to the east of it is the rectory, built in 1979, which has been home to the St. Peter and Paul Wormbach Catholic Public Library since 1992 . A spring that is popularly known as Pastors Strülleken rises a few meters north of the two houses . It is believed that the first church in the area could have stood here.

History and architecture

The large, eaves solid building with a half-timbered upper floor and hipped roof was built between 1717 and 1718. The walls are plastered. A comprehensive renovation was carried out from 1962 to 1963, and the interior was also modernized. The building is one of the oldest rectories in the Sauerland. It is a pure residential building with a representative exterior. There is a pond to the side. The associated timber-framed farm building was demolished in 1979.
