The Roman Catholic parish church Aurach am Hongar is located in Aurach am Hongar in the municipality of Aurach am Hongar in the Vöcklabruck district in Upper Austria . The church consecrated to St. Alexius belongs to the Deanery Schörfling in the Diocese of Linz . The church and the former cemetery area are under monument protection .

history

On May 23, 1458, Passau Auxiliary Bishop Siegmund von Salona consecrated a chapel with a high altar in the parish of Asbach Monastery in Aurach in honor of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist Matthew and St. Confessor Alexius. In 1463 it was agreed with the pastor in Schörfling that he would hold mass every Thursday in Aurach. In 1774 a branch church was elevated to a parish church and in 1784 Aurach received its first pastor. From 1808 the parish had its own cemetery, which was expanded in 1846. On July 25, 1888, houses and the parish church were destroyed by fire. In 1890 the Schlägl monastery acquired the forestry chamber and with it the patronage over Aurach. On August 23, 1893, the new building of the church was consecrated with Bishop Franz Maria Doppelbauer . On June 27, 1953, a new cemetery outside the village was blessed and opened with a bishop coadjutor. On January 3, 1965, a new parsonage and a parsonage with Abbot Florian Pröll from Schlägl Abbey were inaugurated.

Furnishing

In 1826 an organ was named. In 1922 an organ was purchased from Panhuber from Ottensheim. On May 21, 1958, the organ was destroyed in a fire in the church. In 1959 a new organ was built by the organ builder Johann Pircher from Steinach am Brenner, the cabinet was made by the joinery Franz Loy from Jetzing.
