The parish church of Baldramsdorf is located in the municipality of Baldramsdorf in the Spittal an der Drau district in Carinthia . The Roman Catholic parish church , consecrated to St. Martin of Tours , belongs to the Deanery Spittal an der Drau in the diocese of Gurk-Klagenfurt . The church and the cemetery are under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

One church was mentioned in a document in the beginning of the 12th century. A parish is documented in 1258. According to the inscription, the remarkable late Gothic church building was vaulted by Laurenz Rieder in 1522. In 1884/1885 the upper floor and the pointed spire of the tower were built. In 1948 there was a restoration.

architecture

A drawn-in north choir and a shorter south choir adjoin the two-aisled nave, the wider north aisle and the narrower south aisle. There is a two-storey sacristy extension in the northern corner of the choir. The free-standing tower stands in the west. The late Gothic pointed arched west portal was given a small vestibule in the 19th century. The north wall of the nave has three buttresses. The central chancel window shows late Gothic tracery, all other windows have been changed in Baroque style. The two lower floors of the tower are late Gothic, the upper floor and the helmet from 1885 are neo-Gothic. Roman relief fragments were built into the walls of the western and northern fronts.

The interior of the church has a two-aisled hall longhouse - significantly wider to the north than to the south - under a uniform ribbed vault on two octagonal pillars and strong wall pillars, with semicircular templates on the north wall, and consoles on the south wall. The built-in west gallery stands on pillars. The two pointed triumphal arches that are drawn down are grooved or chamfered, with the year 1620. The long north choir has a ribbed vault on consoles, in the first yoke there is a pointed arcade with a chamfered drapery to the south choir. In the north wall of the north choir is a sacristy door with a straight lintel. The south choir has a star rib vault on consoles.

The interior of the church shows wall paintings: On the south wall of the nave, the depiction of the resurrection of the youth of Naïn in 1504. In the north choir, the depiction of law and grace with crucifixion in a landscape with a scroll frame, attributed to Wenzel Aichler, from the third third of the 16th century. Century. In the north choir on the south side crucifixion with Maria, Johannes, Maria Magdalena, floating angels, landscape, below kneeling clergy donor with 1619. Furnishing

The high altar from 1773 as a columned retable carries the statue of St. Martin from the Ossiach workshop around 1525/1520 and the side figures Peter and Paul , in the upper picture St. Trinity .
