history

The Braunau refugee camp was housed in the Laab district during the two world wars . After the Second World War there were many barracks and the church was also housed in such a barrack. After the end of the Second World War, after the people had to thank God for the end of the war, the number of people attending the service increased and the barracks became too small for the many believers. Therefore it was decided to build a church. The church was built from 1948 to 1950 according to plans by the architects Anton Danna and Hans Foschum . With the great help of the population, who donated money and made their work available, the inauguration of the church could be celebrated in 1950. It should not go unmentioned that even the then Pope Pius XII. Donated money to help finance the building of the church. In his honor there is still a statue of Pope Eugen in the church.

The church experienced another phase of construction in 1985, when it was expanded to include a church tower with four bells. In the course of this renovation, a new parsonage was also built, making the entire church area a place of encounter with God, communication and cosiness.
