history

The Maria Fatima parish and pilgrimage church to the south of Droß Castle is a massive building in the form of the Heimatschutz style and in this form unique in the diocese of St. Pölten. The church has a side tower. It was built by Helmut Schopper from 1949 to 1953 and consecrated on May 3, 1953 by Cardinal Franz König . The miraculous image of the church, a statue of Mary, was created by Otto Moroder from Mayrhofen in the Zillertal .

Fatima celebrations take place all year round, on the 13th of the month, with numerous pilgrims taking part.

In July 2016, a lightning strike in the church tower triggered a fire that severely damaged the church tower. The damage has already been repaired.
