The parish church of Euratsfeld stands on the northeastern edge of the village on a plateau sloping to the east in the market town of Euratsfeld in the Amstetten district in Lower Austria . The Roman Catholic parish church , consecrated to St. John the Baptist , belongs to the Amstetten deanery in the diocese of St. Pölten . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).

history

In the 13th century a branch of the parish church Neuhofen an der Ybbs. In the 16th century parish bailiwick of the Neuhofen rule. The church was elevated to a parish church in 1939.

In a document in 1740/1764 the nave was extended to include the west yoke. In 1886 there was a renovation. From 1954 to 1957 the church was restored.

The Baroque extended three-aisled late Gothic hall church from the first quarter of the 16th century, a pillar mentions 1557, has an older polygonal choir from the 14th century and a Gothic south tower.

The simple nave with a crooked gable shows baroque arched windows and has small portal porches from the 18th century in the west and south. The retracted Gothic choir with a five-eighth end and low buttresses has two-part tracery windows, the middle window with a lying three-pass around 1400. In the northern corner of the choir there is a two-storey baroque sacristy extension. In the southern corner of the choir there is a mighty medieval tower with a baroque clock gable and onion helmet.

In blind niches on the south side of the nave stand neo-Gothic statues Baptism of Christ and the Holy. Peter and John.

The interior of the church shows a three-aisled, four-bay nave hall. The central nave and the southern aisle are vaulted in the three eastern bays with a crossed parallel rib network around 1510 on polygonal and wall pillars. The west yoke from 1760/1764 has an organ loft with three round arched pillar arcades, in the central nave and south aisle, arched with a cross ridge and stab cap. The narrow north aisle has pointed groin vaults from 1760/1764.

The triumphal arch on the central nave is ogival. The low one-bay choir with a five-eighth end with a recognizable bend has a ribbed vault on conical consoles and disc keystones. The baroque sacristy has a two-bay arched oratory with two arched arcades to the choir on the upper floor. On the right choir wall is a baroque stone window with a monastery grille.

The stained glass on the center window of the choir, restored around 1410/1420 and 1956, shows Mary with child , St. Christophorus , St. Erasmus , and the founders Hans and Friedrich as princes of Senftenegg with coats of arms, furthermore two ornamental discs as so-called carpet fields around 1300. The depiction of St. Elisabeth with tracery windows are from the 1890s. The side choir windows and the nave panes are partly figural and from 1900.

Furnishing

The high altar as a six-part mosaic retable with scenes from the life of St. John the Baptist was created by Rupert Schweiger and Lucia Jirgal in 1956. The altar table bears a tabernacle flanked by two angel figures and a late Gothic statue of St. John the Baptist around 1510. The left side altar as a baroque wall retable from the third quarter of the 18th century with columns, double pilasters and cranked entablature carries the statues Joachim and Anna around 1760/1770 and above the tabernacle the neo-Gothic figure of Mary with child around 1900 The similar right side altar shows the altar leaf St. Florian von Lorch saves a burning house by Martin Johann Schmidt in 1774 through his prayer and carries the statues hll on the side. Sebastian and Rochus around 1760/1770 and a baroque mercy seat in the essay.

The pulpit has twisted columns and delicate statuettes of Christ and the Evangelists from the first quarter of the 18th century on the basket and a statue of the Risen Christ on the sound cover. There is a monumental crucifixion group with John and Mary from the middle of the 18th century.

The organ was built by the Mauracher brothers in 1949.
