The Poncet Point is a low and hilly promontory on the north coast of Montagu Iceland in the archipelago of the South Sandwich Islands in the South Atlantic . It lies between Borley Point and Leeson Point .
The headland was formed as a result of the 2001 and 2007 eruption of Mount Belinda . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 2013. It is named after Leiv Sigismond Poncet (* 1981), who landed here for the first time on January 26, 2006 on one of his numerous yacht trips to South Georgia and the South Shetland Islands.
