The parish church of Geinberg is in the municipality of Gurten in Upper Austria . The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Stephan belongs to the Altheim dean's office in the Linz diocese . The church is a listed building .

history

One church was mentioned in a document in 763.

architecture

The Gothic reticulated vaulted church building with stepped buttresses has a wide three-bay nave with a two-bay south aisle and a recessed two-bay choir with a three-eighth end. The tower in the southern choir corner has a baroque upper floor and an onion dome from the 17th century.

Furnishing

The high altar around 1680/1690 was created by an artist from Thomas Schwanthaler's circle . The Rococo tabernacle was created by the Waldzell sculptor Ferdinand Schwanthaler (1775). The Marien altar in the south aisle from 1779 has sculptures by Johann Franz Schwanthaler (1721). There is a lecture cross and processional poles with luminous angels in rococo style from the third quarter of the 18th century. There is a relief tombstone from 1665.
