Parish Church of Haidershofen
The Roman Catholic parish church of Haidershofen is located in the municipality of Haidershofen in the Amstetten district in Lower Austria. The three-aisled Gothic hall church is consecrated to St. Severin of Cologne and is listed by the Federal Monuments Office as the Catholic parish church of St. Severin, cemetery run.
history
Exact data are missing for the early period, but the origins probably go back to before the year 1000, 1151 is assumed for the foundation of a parish. From 1274 to 1784 the parish belonged to the Gleink monastery . The late Gothic, three-aisled hall church was consecrated in 1452. The church has been extensively renovated since the end of April 2019, and this work is expected to take about a year.
Church building
Around the church there is the old cemetery, the west wall of which has keyhole cuts and thus reminds of the former military function. The massive impression of the church is determined by the massive south tower with a steep hipped roof and the high nave with a pitched roof, the choir attached to the nave is kept significantly lower.
The late Baroque high altar contains the sculpture Madonna of Victory in the center and is crowned by sculptures of God the Father and angels. On the side are the statues of St. Severin and St. Nicholas . The statues on the neo-Gothic side altars date from after 1890. Above the triumphal arch there is a wall painting with a coronation of Mary .
