The Roman Catholic parish church of Halbenrain is in the market town of Halbenrain in Styria . The parish church of St. Nikolaus belongs to the Radkersburg deanery in the Graz-Seckau diocese . The church is a listed building .

history

The parish church was mentioned in a document in 1418. The new building of a baroque parish church was consecrated in 1717. In 1962 the interior was restored.

architecture

The simple church building with a triangular gable shows a scratched plaster depiction of St. Nikolaus from 1958. The three-bay nave has groin vaults with double straps over coupled pilasters. The three-axis organ gallery stands on pillars. The retracted two-bay choir has a straight ending. The square tower on the north side of the choir has a renewed onion dome. In the east a Loreto chapel with the burial place of Count Stürgkh was added. The baptistery received figural glass windows by the glass painter Franz Weiss in 1964 .

The facade figures Martin and Lukas are from the 1st half of the 17th century. The outside of the Loreto Chapel is richly structured and bears the niche figures Joachim and Anna and shows the Stürgkh coat of arms in the gable from the 3rd quarter of the 18th century. In the choir is a vaulted fresco Trinity and frescoes of the four evangelists from the end of the 19th century.

In front of the church is a statue from 1967.

Furnishing

Most of the furnishings date from the 3rd quarter of the 18th century. There are two stone putti from the end of the 16th century. The Stations of the Cross are from 1837. The burial place is under a barrel vault and has been renovated.
