history

A parish was adopted before 1350. In 1641 the parish rights were transferred to Lichtenegg and the parish church was incorporated into the Reichersberg monastery. The former fortified church, probably from the 16th century, was badly damaged in the Turkish War in 1683 and then rebuilt and baroque in the transition from the 17th to the 18th century. From 1735 to 1752 the branch church was again baroque under the provost Mathias Führer (1735-1752), a western gallery was built in 1749 and the furnishings were partly renewed. The church was raised again to a parish church in 1783. The foundations of a former chapel from 1593 under what is now the new north sacristy were excavated. Renovations were in 1870, 1902 and 1949. Restorations were in 1971, 1985 and 1999.
