Dietrich Karl Heinrich von Sobbe (born July 23, 1796 in Kleve , † September 2, 1877 in Minden ) was a Prussian major general and commander of the 14th Cavalry Brigade .

Life

origin

His parents were the Prussian district president Ludwig Wilhelm von Sobbe (1750-1810) and his wife Agneta Benjamine Klara Luise, née von Oven (1761-1815). Major General Georg Dietrich von Sobbe was his uncle.

Military career

Sobbe was initially in French service from 1811, then switched to the Prussian army in the run-up to the wars of liberation in 1813 . He fought in the battles near Großgörschen , Bautzen , Dresden , Kulm , Leipzig , Montmirail , Laon , Paris and the battles near Haynau , Etoges, Issy and Sezanne. In the battle near Liebertwolkwitz Sobbe was wounded and awarded the Iron Cross, 2nd class. On August 1, 1814, he became a second lieutenant in the Cleven Landwehr Cavalry Regiment and on September 2, 1814, he joined the 1st Hussar Regiment of the Russian-German Legion . With the dissolution of the Legion, he joined the 8th Uhlan Regiment on March 29, 1815 .

After the war, Sobbe rose to Rittmeister and squadron chief until mid-May 1828 . On March 28, 1841 he was transferred to the 7th Uhlan Regiment and promoted to major on April 7, 1842 . On March 31, 1846, he joined the 1st Uhlan Regiment as a regular staff officer . Sobbe was on June 24, 1848 commander of the 3rd Lancers appointed, promoted in this position the end of September 1850. Lieutenant Colonel and November 13, 1851. for the Colonel . On May 23, 1854 he was appointed commander of the 12th Cavalry Brigade . In July 1854 Sobbe received the Order of St. Vladimir III. Class and on August 10, 1854 he was placed à la suite of the 3rd Uhlan Regiment. He was promoted to major general on July 12, 1855, and transferred to the 14th Cavalry Brigade as commander on June 1, 1856. With the award of the Red Eagle Order II.
