Bruno Riedl
Bruno Riedl (born April 2, 1937 in Linz ; † June 2, 2019 ) was an Upper Austrian organ builder who built numerous organs in the Austrian federal states of Upper Austria , Lower Austria and Vienna .
Life - Education - Effect
Bruno Riedl was born as the son of the government councilor Franz Riedl and his wife Margarethe. He graduated from elementary and secondary school (five classes in middle school). In October 1953 he began his apprenticeship as an organ builder with the master organ builders, Gebrüder Matthäus (1885–1954) and Anton Mauracher (1896–1962) in Linz. After Anton Mauracher's death, he switched to organ builder Wilhelm Zika junior. (1905–1989), who headed the organ building company Wilhelm Zika sen., Which emerged from the Breinbauer company in St. Florian . after the death of his father Wilhelm (1875–1955) directed; this operated from 1956 under the name Oberösterreichische Orgelbauanstalt GmbH (Orgelbauanstalt St. Florian, Upper Austria) . It was there that Riedl passed the final organ building exam in 1957.
1957 Riedl expanded his knowledge in the organ building workshop Graf, Sursee, Switzerland. In 1958 Riedl worked as a voicer for the Eisenbarth organ builder in Passau , Germany , and in the same year passed his master organ builder examination; at the age of 21, Riedl was the youngest master organ builder in Austria at the time.
In 1962, Riedl acquired further knowledge in French organ building from master organ builder Georges Lhôte in Geneva , where he worked for a year as a foreman.
After completing his military service, which had been postponed several times, Riedl founded an organ building company in 1965, in which by 1980 around eight to ten employees had built 60 mechanical slider chest organs.
Riedl worked as a guild master for organ building in the Upper Austrian Chamber of Commerce and acted as deputy federal guild master in the committee of musical instrument manufacturers in Austria. In 1978 he founded the Association of Austrian Master Organ Builders.
