Parish church Hopfgarten in Defereggen
The Roman Catholic parish church of Hopfgarten in Defereggen stands on a sloping site in the middle of the village of Hopfgarten in the municipality of Hopfgarten in Defereggen in the anterior Defereggental in the Lienz district in Tyrol . The church consecrated to St. John Nepomuk belongs to the deanery Matrei in Osttirol in the diocese of Innsbruck . The church is a listed building .
history
In 1699 a Trinity Chapel was named. Today's church building was started in 1756 and consecrated in 1798. The interior was renovated in 1826. The church was elevated to a parish church in 1891.
architecture
The simple baroque church building with a north tower is surrounded by a cemetery with an enclosure wall.
The vault paintings were created by Christoph Brandstätter the Elder and Christoph Brandstätter the Younger in 1826; they were renovated in 1903 by Josef Köchler.
Furnishing
The high altar from the table Josef Stauder (1850/1855) with a column structure and curved top and angel figures has sacrificial portals with the statues Peter and Paul .
The organ was built by Balthasar Maßl (1852) and expanded in 1937 by Karl Reinisch's heirs .
