Parish Church of Johnsbach
The parish church of Johnsbach is located in the former community of Johnsbach in the market town of Admont in the Liezen district in Styria . The Roman Catholic parish church consecrated to St. Aegidius - incorporated into Admont Abbey - belongs to the Admont dean's office in the Graz-Seckau diocese . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).
history
The first church was built in 1310. The church was completely rebuilt from 1663 to 1666 under Abbot Reymund. The church was elevated to a parish church in 1673. In 1968 and 1977 the church was restored.
architecture
The church is in the so-called Mountaineers Cemetery Johnsbach .
- Church exterior
The church has a painted pilaster structure and painted window frames on the outside. The roof turret over the western front wears a stepped helmet. Above the entrance a wall painting shows the coat of arms of Abbot Reymund.
- Church interior
The four-bay nave is followed by a one-bay choir with a three-eighth end. The choir and the gallery are separated from the nave with a retracted arch. In the vault of the end of the choir, baroque wall paintings show the adoration of the kings , circumcision, the flight to Egypt , Joseph, Antonius, Florian, and Nicholas.
Furnishing
The high altar from 1666 was demolished, the two high altar paintings have been preserved, Nativity by Daniel Miller 1634, Aegydius around 1666.
One bell is from the 14th century.
