Kirchau parish church
The parish church Kirchau is located in the center of Kirchau in the market town of Warth in the Neunkirchen district in Lower Austria . The Roman Catholic parish church , consecrated to St. Margaret of Antioch , belongs to the Kirchberg deanery in the vicariate Unter dem Wienerwald of the Archdiocese of Vienna . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).
history
The parish was founded in 1194. The church was built in the 14th century. Neo-Gothic changes were made in 1854 when the nave was raised and a transept was added. 1952 was a restoration.
architecture
The compact hall building, which is medieval in its core, with a nave and a retracted choir has an exposed west tower.
The nave under a gable roof has high transept-like extensions under gable roofs and lancet windows with mid-roofs. The western front has a stepped pointed arch portal in the tower and lower side portals on both sides in vestibules from 1854. The retracted choir with a five-quarter end and buttresses has extensions in the choir corners. The tower has small pointed arch openings in the bell storey and has a stone pyramid roof.
The interior of the church shows a simple hall area vaulted with a busted pointed barrel with burr caps and a choir vaulted with star-shaped caps from 1854. The wooden organ gallery across the width of the nave stands on polygonal wooden supports. To the side of the choir are transept-like two-story extensions, on the ground floor with a flat ceiling, on the upper floor under a pointed barrel with gallery windows with wooden brushing from 1854.
Furnishing
The high altar is a neo-Gothic retable altar with a carved extract, it shows the altar sheet St. Margareta and on the side carries the statues Johannes Nepomuk and Antonius von Padua from 1883 and in the excerpt the baroque figure group Dreifaltigkeit from the 17th century.
The organ was built by Anton Škrabl in 1997.
