Parish Church Klagenfurt-St. Jakob on the road
The parish church of Klagenfurt-St. Jakob an der Straße is located in the St. Jakob an der Straße settlement in the Hörtendorf district of the municipality of Klagenfurt am Wörthersee in Carinthia . The Roman Catholic parish church , consecrated to St. James the Elder , belongs to the dean's office in Klagenfurt-Stadt in the diocese of Gurk-Klagenfurt . The church and the cemetery are under monument protection ( list entry ).
history
A church was mentioned in a document in 1539. 1787 Kuratie the church was elevated to a parish church in 1892.
architecture
The small church with a baroque tower extension stands in the middle of a cemetery.
A one-bay choir adjoins the nave under a burr cross vault with a five-eighth end . There is a small sacrament niche in the north wall of the choir. The wide triumphal arch is hardly separated from the nave. The nave was changed in the baroque period with the redesign of the windows and a flat plastered ceiling. The baroque tower in the southwest has an onion helmet from 1766. The sacristy annex is to the east of the tower. The vestibule stands on round pillars.
The interior of the church shows in the nave a baroque ceiling fresco, which was later revised, Transfiguration of Christ, based on the original by Raphael .
Furnishing
The high altar around 1660 with four columns and cartilage shows the altar sheet St. James and the baroque image of the Holy Head. The right side altar from the same construction period shows the picture Anna Selbdritt .
