The parish church of Klagenfurt-St. Modestus is located in the Fischlsiedlung in the St. Peter district of Ebenthal in the municipality of Klagenfurt am Wörthersee in Carinthia . The Roman Catholic parish church , consecrated to St. Modestus of Carinthia , belongs to the dean's office in Klagenfurt-Stadt in the diocese of Gurk-Klagenfurt . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).

history

The foundation stone was laid on November 27, 1977. The church was designed by the architects Alfons Nessmann and Ewald Kaplaner. Kaplaner was the architect of the Fischlsiedlung.

The church was consecrated in 1978 and made a parish church in 1981. In 2000/2001 the altar wall was redesigned.

architecture

The church building, a chapel, the parish office and the parish center form one building complex. The individual components are strongly illuminated by horizontally emphasized window formations in zigzag lines.

The interior of the church is oriented towards the altar wall with a rising open roof construction.

Furnishing

The high altar was designed by the sculptor Renate Hörtner, the stone altar table top is from the sphere of activity of Modestus in Maria Saal , the altar was consecrated on November 28, 1999.
