history

Initially a vicariate of the parish of Weiten in the 13th century, a parish was founded in 1336.

In 1902 there was a renovation. 1974 was a restoration.

architecture

The church is surrounded by a cemetery. At the baroque nave with a Gothic choir there is a compact Biedermeier west tower and a sacristy extension from the early 20th century on the south side.

Church exterior

The core of the early Gothic nave under a gable roof has arched windows, the choir of the same height and width shows an unplastered corner block made of house stones. The end of the choir shows pointed arch windows with two-lane tracery. On the choir there is a bas-relief depicting various hand tools from the second half of the 15th century. The three-storey west tower presented above a square floor plan was built in 1822 instead of a wooden bell tower. The tower shows a pilaster strip and cornice structure, it has a west portal, round arched sound windows and clock gable and wears a Biedermeier bell helmet. In the north of the nave there is a simple chapel under a tent roof built in 1974 on the site of an extension of the same size from the 18th century. South of the choir is a two-storey sacristy extension from 1902 with rectangular windows under a tent roof.

Church interior

The nave is changed and raised as a hall space under a flat ceiling from 1852 and includes a west gallery reaching almost to the middle of the nave over two columns with high plinths. The slightly retracted triumphal arch was expanded and rounded off in 1902. The two-bay choir with a five-eighth closure has a ribbed vault from the second half of the 15th century over short tapering round services on simple fighters and a cup-shaped keystone. The barrel-vaulted tower ground floor has a staircase from 1875.

Figurative stained glass windows, Christ and Mary, Rose of Lima and St. Michael, are from the second half of the 20th century.

Furnishing

The high altar with a neo-Gothic shrine structure was built in 1902 with the niche figures Margaret, flanked by Antonius of Padua and Antonius hermit and in the burst with the statuette of George.

Remnants of the neo-Gothic pulpit, dismantled in 1974, form the lectern and the popular altar.

The organ dates from 1838.
