Parish church Leopoldschlag
The parish church Leopoldschlag is slightly elevated east of the market square in the middle of the cemetery in the market town of Leopoldschlag in the district of Freistadt in Upper Austria . The Roman Catholic parish church consecrated to St. George belongs to the Deanery of Freistadt in the Diocese of Linz . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).
history
In 1356 a parish was mentioned in a document.
The choir was vaulted at the end of the 15th century, the nave was built in the beginning of the 16th century, a keystone mentions 1516. The sacristy was added around 1700 and an oratorio was added at the end of the 19th century. After a fire, the church was renovated from 1883 to 1897. In 1962/1963 the church was expanded according to plans by the architect Anton Zemann , while the baroque west tower was removed and reconstructed on the north side. The church was restored in stages from 1963 to 1982. In 1997 the altars were restored.
architecture
The initial two-aisled, three-bay long hall building over an almost square floor plan was expanded to the west and south in 1962/1963. In the late Gothic area there is a dense, yoke-dragging, mesh ribbed vault with three ribs to the triumphal arch on three octagonal nave pillars, the western new from 1962/1963, the extension area in the nave has a flat ceiling.
The retracted two-bay late Gothic choir with a three-eighth end has a star-shaped jumping diamond vault on circular services with a ribbed three-beam in a polygon similar to the three-beam shape in the parish church of Rainbach .
The reconstructed new baroque tower stands on the north side of the nave. The two-storey sacristy extension is located in the northern corner of the choir.
Furnishing
The high altar from 1878 bears the figures Nikolaus, in the middle Georg, and Leopold, in between on consoles Barbara and Katharina, the Trinity in the crack.
The organ from 1963 with a free pipe prospect in the southern ogival wall niche has the console on the gallery with an electric action, II Man./14 Reg.
