The Roman Catholic parish church Loimersdorf is in the village of Loimersdorf in the Engelhartstetten community in the Gänserndorf district in Lower Austria . It is consecrated to St. Mary Magdalene and belongs to the Marchfeld deanery in the vicariate Unter dem Manhartsberg of the Archdiocese of Vienna . The building is a listed building .

The church stands in the center of the village of Loimersdorf.

history

The church, which is essentially Gothic , was built in the 14th century. In 1726 it was redesigned in baroque style . Around 1850 it was elevated to a parish church.

Church exterior

The church is a small baroque building. The choir and the church tower, a former defensive tower, are essentially Gothic. The west facade has a simple design and dates from 1726. The nave has arched windows. The polygonal choir is slightly drawn in. The squat tower with a pointed helmet connects to the north. To the south is the sacristy from the middle of the 19th century.

Church interior

The low nave is three-bay and has a square vault . It is located between belt arches on strong pillars. The three-part arched organ gallery rests on pillars. The triumphal arch is made narrow. The one-yoke choir is slightly offset and ends in the 5/8 end. Above that, between the belt arches, there is a square vault with stitch caps . In the vault is a fresco showing the "Resurrection" by Alexander Rothaug from the beginning of the 20th century. The northern ground floor of the tower is cross-vaulted .

Furnishing

The high altar was built in Romanesque forms at the end of the 19th century. In the niches there are figures of St. Mary Magdalene, St. Joseph and St. Leonhard . On the side there are angel figures. The Stations of the Cross are from the second half of the 19th century. The stained glass windows were created in 1946.

The organ is located in a historicising case from 1840.

Bells

The bell was cast by Barbara Firlinger in 1828 .
