history

The church was built in 1477 as a branch church of the Hartmannsdorf parish church . When the church was expanded, the year 1587 was mentioned on the fron arch. The church was elevated to a parish church in 1949. From 1956 to 1957, a new building was built in the north according to the plans of the architects Franz Plentner and Anton Walter, turning the old sacred building into a vestibule.

architecture

The choir adjoins the three-bay nave with square vaults with a five-eighth end under a mesh vault. The bell storey and the onion dome of the south tower were renewed in the 20th century. The hall in the modern style is spacious with a transept-like widening and has a shaft-like raised chancel. It has an open gable roof with projecting retaining walls and passages. The exterior design of the old church was adapted to the new building, the west portal of the old building was bricked up.

BW

In front of the church are stone figures Christophorus and Maria by the sculptor Alfred Schlosser (1968).

Furnishing

The sanctuary

The interior decoration was transferred here from several churches. The high altar from the third quarter of the 18th century comes from the church in St. Erhard in the Breitenau . The altar panel shows the Holy Family with Helena. The side altars from the third quarter of the 17th century are from the Holy Mountain near Bärnbach , their altar leaves show Peter and Antonius. They are based on a design by August Kurz-Goldenstein the Younger and date from the 20th century. The figures Joseph and Isidor have been transferred from the cemetery chapel in Pischelsdorf.

The old high altar from 1885 in the vestibule in the neo-renaissance style bears two baroque figures from the 18th century. Toni Hafner painted the altarpiece of Helena .

The organ was built by the Hopferwieser brothers in 1960 .
