The Roman Catholic parish church Palting is located in the municipality of Palting in the Braunau am Inn district in Upper Austria . The on St. Simon and St. Jude's church is part of the Mattighofen deanery in the Linz diocese . The church building and the cemetery are under monument protection .

history

The church was first mentioned in a document in 1325. The Gothic church was converted to baroque style .

architecture

The single-nave, three-bay nave is followed by an equally wide single-bay choir with a three-eighth end. The ribs were removed from the Gothic vaults and provided with rich stucco by Johann Michael Vierthaler (1740). The ceiling paintings were created at the same time. The Gothic west tower has an eight-sided pointed helmet, the bell house has a Gothic ribbed vault. The south portal is Gothic. The additions to the sacristy, the Marienkapelle, the Dreifaltigkeitskapelle and Pestkapelle and the vestibule at the south portal were built in 1715/1717. In the Marienkapelle there is a flat ceiling with stucco from 1717 with frescoes at the same time depicting the expulsion of the plague. The south portal porch has a stucco ceiling.

Furnishing

The high altar was created around 1822/1830 with the painting by Franz Zebhauser from Salzburg at the same time, the figures are from the 17th century. The left side altar St. Sebastian is from 1690, the right side altar is St. Maria is from 1669, both were later changed. The pulpit was built around 1750, the oratory from 1750 has good statues of the church fathers. In a nave niche is a statue of Christ on the scourge column from the first third of the 18th century. Two procession poles were made around 1700. The church stalls around 1725. In the Marienkapelle there is a very good altar with Our Lady of Altötting from the workshop of Meinrad Guggenbichler from 1717. There are good wooden statues of St. Sebastian and St. Rochus. The wrought iron grille of the Marienkapelle was built around 1717.
