The Roman Catholic parish church Sankt Anna am Aigen is located in Aigen in the market town of Sankt Anna am Aigen in Styria . The parish church of St. Anna belongs to the Deanery Feldbach in the diocese of Graz-Seckau . The church building is a listed building .

history

A chapel was mentioned in a document in 1545. The chapel was destroyed in 1706 during an invasion of the Kuruc . The new building from 1712 faces south and was consecrated in 1717. The church was elevated to a parish church in 1788. 1967 was an exterior restoration, 1978 an interior restoration.

architecture

The parish church stands at the southern end of the village on a small forecourt in a partially still old walling. The three-aisled, four-bay nave has groin vaults and ribs on pillars. The lower aisles have open galleries. The west aisle is narrower and one yoke shorter. The three-axis organ gallery is bricked. The one-yoke choir has a semicircle. The sacristy is attached to the east of the choir. The square tower in front in the north has a pyramid roof. The colored glass windows were created by the Ferdinand Koller company in Graz around 1907.

The altar

The furniture around 1780 is from the workshop of Veit Königer . The high altar bears the group of figures Anna Maria teaching reading in a canopy niche. The side altars show Augustine and Ulrich in richly framed pictures. The right side altar bears the statuette of Maria Immaculata. The pulpit has colored reliefs of the evangelists. The baptismal font bears the crowning group of figures Baptism of Christ. In the right nave the picture of the Trinity hangs in a leaf and ribbon frame around 1730.

The organ is from 1915. Franz A. Pigneth cast a bell in 1716.
