The Roman Catholic parish church of Sankt Johann in der Haide is located in St. Johann in der Haide in the municipality of Sankt Johann in der Haide in Styria . The parish church of St. John the Baptist belongs to the Hartberg deanery in the Graz-Seckau diocese . The church is a listed building .

history

The church was founded in 1452 as a branch of the parish church of St. Martin in Hartberg mentioned in a document. The present church was built in 1775 with the master mason Anton Pregartner. The church was elevated to a parish church in 1784. Restorations were in 1950 and 1972.

architecture

The church has a simple structure with pilaster strips outside and inside . In the west the square tower is in front. The three-bay nave has a square vault over wall templates and belts. The single-bay retracted choir has a semicircle. The organ gallery is bricked. The glass windows are from 1883. The outside is a Roman stone with three relief busts from the 3rd century.

The altar

The modest interior is from the end of the 18th century. The picture Adoration of the Shepherds is from the 18th century.

The organ was built by Carl Schehl (1837). One bell is from 1846.
