The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Willibald is in the village of St. Willibald in the municipality of St. Willibald in the Schärding district in Upper Austria . The church, consecrated to St. Willibald , belongs to the Andorf deanery in the Linz diocese . The church is a listed building .

history

The church was probably built around the 15th and 16th centuries. Built at the turn of the century and replaced a dilapidated previous church. In 1782 St. Willibald became its own parish and was previously a branch of the mother parish in Raab . In June 1732 the church tower burned down by lightning and was damaged again by fire in 1881. From 1899 to 1912 the church was completely renovated and refurbished.

architecture

The late Gothic two-aisled hall church is similar to the parish church of St. Florian am Inn. The three-bay nave vaulted with a net and star ribs has stepped struts. The retracted two-bay rib vaulted choir according to the Wechselberg figuration has a three-eighth end and retracted struts. The Gothic west tower has a baroque bell house with bevelled edges and a hood from 1733. The late Gothic south portal is keel-arched. The late Gothic west portal is shoulder-arched.

Furnishing

The decor is neo-Gothic. The high altar is flanked by two almost life-size Baroque figures from the third quarter of the 18th century depicting St. Walpurga and St. Represent Wunibald . The high age picture from the end of the 18th century depicts the crucifix of St. Willibald and is a work by Sebastian Schönhofer from Schärding. The side altars were redesigned in 1960/61 by removing the altar structures and only the neo-Gothic altar tables from 1901 remained. The crucifix above the right side altar dates from the second half of the 18th century and was purchased in 1913 as a mission cross for the parish church. The pulpit is classicistic, probably by the Schärdingen sculptor Thomas Jorhan (around 1785).

The organ from 1836 was made by Josef Breinbauer . It was rebuilt in 1898 by Leopold Breinbauer and renovated in 1971 and 1998.
