The Roman Catholic parish church Traberg is located in Großtraberg in the market town of Oberneukirchen in the Urfahr-Umgebung district in Upper Austria . The St. The parish church , which is consecrated to Joseph the Worker and incorporated into Wilhering Abbey, belongs to the Deanery St. Johann am Wimberg in the Diocese of Linz . The church is a listed building .

history

The parish church Traberg was built from 1784 to 1787 as part of the parish regulation by Emperor Josef II. It stands in the main town of Traberg (today's Großtraberg) of the former municipality of Waldschlag . The adjustment of the community name in Traberg , requested by the population in the middle of the 19th century , was rejected by the authorities. In 1938 Waldschlag was incorporated into Oberneukirchen.

In 1840 Johann von Frast said about the parish church: "The church is cute and spacious enough for the parishioners."

architecture

The late baroque hall building, a three-bay nave with a retracted single-bay choir, was built between 1784 and 1787. The high, neo-baroque central tower was added between 1869 and 1871.

Furnishing

Inside is a remarkable historicist facility from the late 19th century. The neo-Romanesque altar was made by the Linz sculptor Engelbert Westreicher . The relief “The Last Supper” was created in 1836 by the Linz art carver and sculptor Schneider. The crib was carved in 1921 by the Leonfeldner postman Peter Krenn.
