Engelbert Westreicher

Engelbert Westreicher (born September 20, 1825 in Pfunds , † January 20, 1890 in Linz ) was an Austrian sculptor and produced works of the so-called joiner's Gothic.

Live and act

Engelbert Weistracher was born as the son of a master baker in Pfunds in Tyrol, studied with the Tyrolean sculptor Franz Renn and enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich on November 14, 1847 .

In 1857 he set up a powerful workshop for church art in Linz , which received orders from various countries of the monarchy. His works include more than 100 larger and smaller, neo-Gothic altars in Upper and Lower Austria, 26 pulpits, two large organ cases and several hundred statues of saints .

His students included u. a. Hans Greil .
