The Roman Catholic parish church Würflach is located in the municipality Würflach in the Neunkirchen district in Lower Austria . The parish church consecrated to St. Anna - incorporated into the Heiligenkreuz Abbey - belongs to the Neunkirchen dean's office in the Archdiocese of Vienna . The church is a listed building .

history

The church was mentioned in a document in 1353 as a branch of the parish church of St. Lorenzen am Steinfeld . A late Gothic church was probably built over a previous Romanesque building - documented in 1204 - probably in the second half of the 15th century. The church was incorporated into the Neukloster monastery in 1617 together with the parish church of St. Lorenzen am Steinfeld. In 1683, the Turkish war caused severe damage with the collapse of the roof structure. As a result, the floor level was raised and the reconstruction began in 1685, a baroque tower was added to the tower in 1731/1733, the church building was re-vaulted in 1743 and a temporary wooden ceiling was removed. In 1881 the incorporated church with the Neukloster Abbey went to the Heiligenkreuz Abbey. In 1983 the church was restored.

architecture

The church is stone-faced with a nave and a choir with buttresses under one roof.

Furnishing

The three altars were probably transferred here from the Neuklosterkirche in Wiener Neustadt.
