The parish church Wildalpen is in the place Wildalpen in the district Liezen in Styria . The Roman Catholic parish church consecrated to Saint Barbara of Nicomedia - incorporated into Admont Abbey - belongs to the Admont dean's office in the Graz-Seckau diocese . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).

history

The church was built in 1674. The interior was redesigned in the second half of the 18th century. In 1973 the interior of the church was restored.

architecture

The single-nave three-bay nave has flat vaults on girders. The organ gallery on two pillars has side parts that extend diagonally into the room and is divided into fields. The third nave yoke has a rectangular side chapel on both sides. The two-bay choir closes with a straight end. The protruding square west tower has a new broken hood and shows the coat of arms of Abbot Anton II von Mainersberg (1718–1751).

Remarkable frescoes from 1784/1785 throughout the church by Johann Lederwasch and Alois Lederwasch with a transition style from Rococo to Classicism. West wall music-making angels, first place Christ on the Mount of Olives , in the edge zones the four evangelists and in grisaille Cain and Abel , Joseph is sold by his brothers , second place flagellation and crowning of thorns , third place Ecce Homo , in the edge zones angels with Arma Christi and in Grisaille Esther and Ahasver and Salomon and the Queen of Saba, fourth place in the choir Cross dragging and cross nailing, with the coat of arms of the Admont abbot Columban von Wieland (1779–1787), fifth place in the choir Crucifixion, on the edge zones four prophets in grisaille, bronze Serpent and Abraham sacrificing Isaac , east wall balustrade with angels in clouds with Restoration inscription 1931. In the left side chapel, framework architecture with angels and Vera Ikon .

A color window St. Eustachius and Johannes Nepomuk is from 1873/1874.

Noon bells in the parish church

The high altar with colloquial architecture shows a painted picture of grace Pietà from Wildalpen in rich late baroque framing. The figures Sebastian and Rochus probably from the Stammel workshop from the middle of the 18th century.

The organ from 1893 has a work from 1975.
