The parish is a foundation of the Kuenringer . A church was mentioned in a document in 1300. A Gothic core has probably been preserved in the wall core. In 1303 the patronage rights went to Zwettl Abbey, a parish church was documented in 1330 and incorporated into the Abbey in 1399. After the damage by the Hussites had been repaired, the church was consecrated again in 1437. The church was expanded structurally in 1469. The church was largely rebuilt in the second and third quarters of the 17th century. Renovations took place in 1719. In 1784 the miraculous image of the pilgrimage church Maria Rafingsberg (today church ruin Rafingsberg ) was transferred here. 1905, 1950, 1966/68 were restorations.
