Windigsteig Castle, which is located between the village and the pond in a small depression and was mentioned in a document in 1311, is a two-storey four-sided complex from the 16th century that was originally designed as a moated castle . The noteworthy external features include a renewed painting of the local stone as well as profiled ground floor windows on the north side from the second third of the 16th century. To the east of the castle is a spacious farm yard. This has an elongated tract in the middle with local stone structure from the 16th / 17th centuries. Century. On the narrow side it has a stone-framed porch under a gable top with a former roof turret. The front structure is adjusted to the width of the overall structure by means of side extensions.

The Lichtenberg local chapel, built in 1922/1923 according to a design by Franz Mühlbach, on the thoroughfare in front of the northern row of courtyards, is a simple building on an embossed base. Your facade tower is accessible through a mighty rusticated arched gate. Two of its sound windows are in the gable projections of the tower spire.

The local chapel in the west of Matzlesschlag is a historicist , flat, closed structure with round arched windows and a gable turret crowned by a pointed gable helmet, built between 1902 and 1904 . The interior has a pressed needle cap barrel. The black and gold columned altar was made around 1660/1680 and supposedly comes from the former pilgrimage church in Rafingsberg. In the center is a late Gothic carved relief of the Lamentation of Christ, which was created in the early 16th century. On the sides there are figures of a bishop from around 1330 and St. Leopold from around 1480. The rococo half-figures of Maria and the Man of Sorrows in the cafeteria date from the third quarter of the 18th century.

In the east of Meires rises a three-winged, former moated castle of the Renaissance . The two-story, south-facing complex has a shorter east wing. Remnants of plaster tape and plastering can be seen. The round corner towers on the southeast corner and on the north wing lie under conical roofs with wooden shingles, which are crowned by lantern attachments with onion helmets. The castle is accessible through a barrel vaulted passageway in the western wing.

The ruins of the former pilgrimage church of the Seven Sorrows of Mary are located near Rafingsberg . It was first mentioned as the newly built Lady Chapel in 1455. After construction activities in 1490 the church was in 1494 as the Zwettl owned subsidiary church Unserfrau consecrated. The nave was rebuilt in 1658–1663 and consecrated in 1670. In 1708 a ring wall was built around the church at the end of a pilgrimage route from Waidhofen an der Thaya. The pilgrimage to Rafings was canceled by Emperor Joseph II in 1786 and the furnishings of the church were removed. Part of it was destroyed, another part came to Windigsteig. In 1788 the church was closed. In 1792 the profanation and the demolition took place. The two-bay choir had a five-eighth end that has been preserved up to the height of the roof approach. In addition, the remains of the buttresses can be seen as well as preserved ribs tapering over lowering blades or crossing over. The walls of the originally immaculate pointed arch windows were partly broken off.

The vicarage west of the church of Windigsteig - a former aristocratic residence that was expanded in 1562 and later decayed, which was adapted as a vicarage in 1677 after a fire in the original vicarage in 1674 - is a two-storey three-wing complex. The eastern wing dates from the second half of the 16th or 17th century and was partially rebuilt as a school in 1868. The elongated north wing was renewed in 1687. The west wing was probably renewed in 1728 by Josef Munggenau. Between 1799 and 1805 a renovation took place. In the north wing there is a stucco framed ceiling that is divided by partition walls. In the southwest corner hall there is a grooved stucco ceiling from 1733, which in its curved frame shows a feeding pelican as a high relief as well as tablets of the law, an anchor and rich foliage and ribbon work in medallions. The furnishings include an oil painting from the second half of the 18th century.

The parish church of St. Laurentius is a simple , early Baroque hall building with a choir tower , probably Gothic in the core of the wall . The simple nave with high lunette windows and the flat, closed chancel lie under a uniform tile gable roof. The church is accessible in the south through a profiled framed portal from the construction period, which has a cornice on volute consoles. A porch with a niche figure of the Man of Sorrows dates from the second half of the 19th century. The eight-sided choir tower, mentioned in 1668 as being in progress, has been shifted slightly southwards towards the ridge axis. It has a five-storey structure in square fields and is crowned by an onion helmet. In the apex of the choir is the low sacristy, enlarged in 1950.
