Horse theater (theater project)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The horse theater is a theater project in which the horse and its movement are staged in interaction with multimedia forms of representation.

description

The horse theater project goes back to an initiative of the Belgian dressage trainer and theater man Leon Vermeulen and was founded in 2003 on the island of Usedom . Since 2016 there has been a permanent venue in Zirkow on the island of Rügen . In the old field stone hall there are regular performances that stage the horse and its movement in a special way. Another venue where the horse theater is a guest is in Berlin-Tegel .

The productions do not present conventional theater pieces with a completed plot, but rather the horse and its movement are at the center of the performances, which are staged in the interplay with multimedia forms of representation such as film, music and dance.

The horse theater found media resonance not only in the regional press, but also in the Berliner Tagesspiegel and on the television station NDR , which reported on the project in the series Nordtour in July 2018 .
