distribution
The peach shoot winder comes from China . It was also found in North and South America , Asia , Australia and Europe .
biology
The females lay the eggs on the fruit trees on warm days. Depending on the temperature, the caterpillars hatch after 6 to 22 days. In spring and summer the caterpillars feed on the sprouts and fruits.
The sex pheromones of the female moths consist of a mixture of isomers with (Z) -8-dodecen-1-yl acetate as the main component and (E) - 8-dodecen-1-yl acetate and (Z) -8-dodecen-1- ol as minor components. In order for the pheromone to have its optimal effect on the males, the mixture must contain 7% (E) -8 isomer.
The confusion method is used to combat peach shoots in orchards .
