Phaedon armoraciae is a beetle fromthe leaf beetle family and the subfamily Chrysomelinae . Phaedon armoraciae is one of 6 species of the genus Phaedon that occur in Central Europe.

features

The black-blue beetles are 3–4 mm long. Depending on the incidence of light, they also shimmer greenish. The beetles have an oval shape. The feelers are completely black. The pronotum is roughly dotted. The wing covers show a clear shoulder bulge. Nine fine rows of dots run over the wing covers. The anal star has a broad red border.

distribution

The species is widespread in Europe. In the north, their occurrence extends to the British Isles and Scandinavia. To the east, the distribution area extends over Siberia and Central Asia to the Far East . The species was introduced in North America.

Way of life

The adult beetles are usually seen between May and September. The species prefers moist locations. The larvae develop on Bachbunge ( Veronica beccabunga ).
