The Phantasialand Jet (also known as the Monorail Jet ) was a monorail that opened in 1974 in Phantasialand in Brühl and closed in 2008.
Originally it was planned to use the monorail not only as a round trip, but to expand the route to Brühl train station in order to better connect the park to local public transport. Accordingly, the speed of the trains was designed for up to 40 km / h, but in Phantasialand they were never driven faster than 20 km / h.
The technology of the system made by Schwarzkopf GmbH , consisting of a round rail with lateral running surfaces and a central guide bar, was planned for a simple change of the route, except for the construction of River Quest , however, no significant route changes were made. The trains were also practically unchanged, the layout of the route was partially. The biggest innovation was the time tunnel that was added with the construction of the silver mine in 1983 . Through an artificial rock massif above the silver mine, the Phantasialand Jet took you into the world of dinosaurs and the Stone Age .
In 1997 the Italian company Eagle Enterprises redesigned the entrance and exit building into a Maya temple as part of the theming of the area between Western City and Old Berlin to Mexico . Until the 2012 season, a children's show was shown in the building called Tula Temple .
On the journey in one of the two (until 2001 three) with direct current motors, six-section, 29.7 meter long trains, which were kept in the colors blue, white and red, one could see the different areas of the Phantasialand. Information about the various areas and attractions could also be heard over loudspeakers, which was updated again and again.
The figures displayed in the time tunnel via animatronic included Stone Age people or Neanderthals , mammoths , dinosaurs such as Dimetrodon , Stegosaurus and Brontosaurus , but also predatory dinosaurs . After the Phantasialand jet was dismantled, some of the animatronics were sold to the Fantasiana Adventure Park in Straßwalchen , where they have since been part of the Dino Adventure themed ride .
